Week 2 of the Live Shows

Published: 11/03/12

It was week two of the LIVE SHOWS here in The Helix tonight where Team Sharon and Team Kian gave us an amazing Show! Elliot Canavan Doyle started us off with A-HA’s “Take on Me”, Sharon voiced that she was still a little bitter he didn’t pick her back in the Blind Auditions! Next up was Fauve Chapman with Lana Del Ray’s popular tune “Video Games”, Kian thought it was a safe song but that she sang it sweetly! Bressie thought it was “her best performance yet”. Secondly for Team Kian was Graham Dowling rocking out to Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire”, Bressie warned One Direction’s Niall Horan to move over!!! The beautiful Kellie Blaise sang Barbara Streisand’s “My Funny Valentine”, Kian didn’t think it had the passion that was needed but that technically it was perfect! Kyle Kennedy did Team Kian proud with his rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” getting the whole audience and people at home bopping along! The lovely Kim Hayden was up next singing Coldplay’s “Fix You”, Kian criticised that he thought she needed a bit more work. Our very own Voice of Ireland Diva, Sharon Gaynor belted Celine Dion’s “All By Myself”, Sharon was extremely impressed stating that that it was the: “Best performance of the series so far”. Up next for Team Sharon was Tallaght’s own, Kevin Keeley singing Brandon Flower’s “Crossfire”, Bressie admitted to being a big fan of Kevin’s tone. Our Northern dark horse, Jim Devine performed Cyndi Lauper’s “Time after Time”, Sharon thought he has remained consistent but she would love a bit more drama next time! The infamous Soprano of the show, Vanessa Whelan caressed our senses yet again with Westside Story’s “Somewhere”, a tearful Kian, said it was an astounding performance! Team Kian’s Liam Geddes gave us a fantastic performance of Rihanna and Eminem’s “Love the Way you Lie”, very hip! But Sharon thought he gave a better performance in rehearsal, while Brian was fearful that Liam gave his Team a bit of competition! And finally our Cork Sweetheart Nollaig O’Connor sang the beautiful “Shake it Out” from Florence and the Machine. All we can can say is she did the song justice, good woman Nollaig!

After a long a never-ending break between the Main Show and Results, the votes were counted and the bottom four were announced; Kellie, Fauve, Elliot and Kyle. The decisions were now down to their Coaches Sharon and Kian. On Team Sharon; Kellie faced Fauve and a saddened Sharon chose Fauve to go home but promised that it wouldn’t be the end of their working relationship. And the final decision of the night fell with Kian who chose Elliot over Kyle to go on to the next round.

It is always sad to see such good Talents go home but we wish them all the luck in the world! Well done guys!!!

It is always difficult to see people going home but am so glad Kian chose Eliot to go forward, I thought it was a very vrave song choice for him this week and Take Me On was the perfect song to show off that wonderful falsetto – I’m backing Eliot to go all the way, I think he has such an unusual and recordable voice. Go team Kian – Eliot all the way!!
